Thaddeus Lake, Ontario

09/08/07 - 09/27/07

I spent three weeks at Thaddeus Lake. This was my decompression time. It allowed me to sit in one place for a stretch of time and not have any commitments to do anything or go anywhere.

Unfortunately, the weather and the fishing wasn't very good for most of the time I was here. The weather was very unsettled. We had snow showers one day and two days later it was sunny and in the 70s. There were a lot of windy days and quite a few rainy days. The unsettled weather didn't help fishing any. However, I did manage to catch a nice 29 inch walleye.

Despite the weather and fishing, I had a great time. I took over 900 photos while I was here. The one advantage to the bad weather was that the clouds made for some magnificent sunsets. I got to witness the change to fall colors. Everything was green when I got here and I watched it change day by day to a mixture of greens, yellows, and oranges. I also got to spend some quality time with a family of four photogenic beavers. I found them one night in a little cove and spent two evenings watching and photographing them. The second night it was obvious that they were used to me and went about their business as if I wasn't there. That was a very enjoyable evening.
