Kennedy Space Center

02/17/11 and 02/21/11

I made two visits to the space center. It turns out that a paid admission allows a free second visit within seven days. I made my visits 7 days and 3 days before the shuttle Discovery was scheduled to launch. I highly recommend visiting the space center if you ever have the chance. The admission fee gets you into the visitor complex and onto a two stop bus tour.

The visitor complex has many exhibits detailing the history of space exploration. It has an IMAX theater with two 3D movies being shown on the Hubble Telescope and the International Space Station. It also has a shuttle that you can walk into.

The first stop of the bus tour is at the Launch Complex 39 Observation Gantry. From here, you could see the space shuttle Discovery on the launch pad. The second stop is at the Apolo/Saturn V Center. The center holds a 363 foot Saturn V Rocket. It also holds many artifacts from the Apollo program, including lunar rocks (one of which you're allowed to touch). There's also an excellent presentation on the first lunar landing.
