Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park

03/22/11

Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park serves as a rehabilitation center and refuge for manatees. It contains a warm water spring that provides a natural environment for manatees while they rehabilitate. An underwater observatory has been built over the spring that allows you to view the manatees and fish that frequent the spring.

The park also rehabilitates other Florida-native wildlife. Animals that can't be returned to the wild are put on exhibit. The park allows you to see these native birds and animals in natural settings.

As a result, most of the photos here are of captive animals. Although, some of the birds are not. They just know a good place to hang out for protection and free food.
