Sweetwater Wetlands

12/28/12 - 03/02/13

Sweetwater Wetlands is an artificial wetlands area that was created to further treat water from the Tucson Water Treatment Plant. The water is passed through the wetlands and then stored in retention ponds where it is used to water lawns, golf courses, etc. The wetlands are a little over a mile from the campground I'm staying. So I've been biking down there every few days.

As you would expect, a wetlands area around Tucson is a magnet for wildlife. There are a wide variety of waterfowl. There are also many predators such as hawks and coyotes. Previously, I posted some photos I took here from the first month I was in Tucson. Here's some of the wildlife I've seen in my visits during the last two months of my stay in Tucson.
