Everglades National Park - Chokoloskee

01/23/14 - 02/15/14

I stayed for a few days on Chokoloskee Island, which is just outside the western edge of Everglades National Park. While here, I took a coupld of boat tours into the park.

The first tour was the Ten Thousand Islands Boat Tour. The tour is on a boat that holds over 30 people and goes into the bay. They run this tour every half hour. Somehow, I ended up on a tour where I was the only guest on the boat. So it was just me, the captain, and the first mate for an hour and a half tour in the bay. Luckily, we found a pod of a half dozen or so dolphins. I was able to move freely around the boat and get some good photos. The ffirst group of dolphin photos are from this tour.

The second tour was the Mangrove Wilderness Boat Tour. These tours are on smaller boats that hold six people and wander through a mangrove forest. We saw some osprey with their nests and lots of other wildlife, including another dolphin. The rest of the photos are from that trip.
