Mascoutah Wildlife

03/09/14 - 07/29/14

I spent a little more time in Mascoutah than I had originally planned. First, I had to wait for my new RV to be delivered. After that, I ended up hanging around to help out until we got mom scheduled for a hip replacement.

While I was here, I got a new long lens. So I had to test it out. I made several trips to a small nature preserve outside of town. Most of the photos below were taken there using my new lens.

The fox photos were actually taken from my sister's backyard. She lives behind a school and there's a corn field next to it. It appears that the foxes are living in the corn field. She has been seeing them nearly every day so far this summer. Of course, they've only showed up once when I was there with my camera. The picture of the mouse was also taken at my sister's. We were sitting outside and saw this mouse staggering down the sidewalk. After taking A few photos, I caught the mouse in a butterfly net and released it in the corn field. When I put the net over the mouse, it just fell over on its side, so we think it wasn't much longer for this world.
